KZ Kane
KZ Kane has spent more than 23 years in wellness and fitness, and the ground he covers is unusually wide. He is a licensed massage therapist trained at First Institute, an NPTI personal trainer with a PNF certification, NASM certified, and certified in yoga, Pilates, TRX and MBB besides. He is also a former martial artist, boxer and MMA competitor, a background that teaches you exactly what a body does under real load and what it does the morning after. Out of all of that he developed a technique of his own, Neuromuscular Restoration, or NMR, named for what it sets out to do: restore the working relationship between a nerve, a muscle and the movement the two are meant to produce together. His hands-on work runs across lymphatic drainage, myofascial, trigger point, Swedish, bamboo and hot stone, and he works with shockwave and red light as well. KZ is a licensed massage therapist and neuromuscular restoration therapist, not a physical therapist. What he offers is bodywork of real depth, sitting beside the licensed physical therapy delivered in the same building.
I want to give a shout out to the staff at Wellness Solutions. They are always helpful, friendly, and accommodating.
What guides the work.
More than two decades in, KZ still starts by finding out what is actually going on rather than reaching for a favorite technique. The modality gets chosen afterward: lymphatic drainage for one person, trigger point or myofascial for another, hot stone, bamboo or Swedish when that is what the tissue will take.
The competitive background matters here too. Someone who has trained and fought knows the difference between soreness worth working through and pain that is telling you something, and that judgment is what keeps deep work from turning into punishing work. Sessions are one to one and paced to the person on the table. And because this studio keeps physical therapy, Pilates and bodywork under one roof, KZ's work can run alongside a licensed physical therapist's plan of care instead of competing with it.
