Dr. Abigail Kulis
Dr. Abigail Kulis has lived in several suburbs around Chicagoland. Her family is from Poland, and she is fluent in Polish. She graduated from Stevenson High School and went on to Marquette University, where she earned her B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology, followed by her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Her clinical experience spans orthopedic, geriatric and neurologic patients, at many different stages of recovery. She has treated patients using Functional Applied Science principles, which emphasize mobility in multiple planes, the way the body actually moves in everyday life, and she enjoys coming up with creative exercises that challenge patients and guide them toward recovery. The patients she most enjoys working with are orthopedic and post-operative cases, and young athletes dealing with pain.
People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
What guides the work.
Integrity, empathy, growth, respect and faith. Those are the values Dr. Abigail brings into every session. She wants to help break the cycle of pain that can lead to immobility and a fear of movement, and she believes physical therapists play an important role in teaching patients why mobility matters and how to stay active through every stage of life.
Life beyond the treatment table.
Outside of work, Dr. Abigail is very active in the gym and has recently started her running journey. She loves spending time outdoors, whether that means going for a walk or relaxing at a park, and she enjoys time with her friends and family, traveling and exploring new cultures. Her favorite show is New Girl, and her favorite movie is Pride & Prejudice (2005).
