01What It Is

What is personal training?

Personal training is what happens when the plan stops being generic. Most people do not stall in the gym for lack of effort. They stall because nobody ever looked at their body, their history and their actual week, then built something that fits all three. Our certified personal trainers start with a full consultation: where your fitness sits right now, what you genuinely want out of this, how you eat and sleep and move through an ordinary day, and what your injury history rules in or out. That last piece matters more than most people expect, because a program that ignores an old knee or a shoulder that catches is a program with an expiry date on it. From there the work gets built properly. Strength and conditioning in an order that makes sense, heart rate based conditioning so your cardio has a target instead of a vague sense of hard, mobility where you are stiff, and coaching on the movement itself so the load you add is load your body can use.

You can train one on one, with a partner, or in a small group, and the programming stays individual in all three. What does not change is the accountability. Your trainer tracks the sessions, so progress is a record rather than a feeling, and when something stops moving they change the variable that is stalling and tell you why. Because this is a physical therapy, Pilates and massage studio, training here is not walled off from the rest of your body's story either. Your trainer is a certified personal trainer, not a physical therapist, so this is fitness coaching rather than a plan of care. If something turns out to be genuinely injured, the licensed physical therapy side of the building is a hallway away, which is also why injury prevention gets built into the work rather than bolted on after something tears.

02Who It's For

Who it's for.

You do not need to already be fit to work with a trainer, and you do not need a specific goal picked out. You need a plan that fits you. These are the people it usually fits.

01

Doing the work without the result

You show up, you have watched the videos, and nothing has moved in months. That is a programming problem, not a character problem. The right stimulus, in the right order, progressed on purpose instead of by how you feel that morning.

02

Chasing something specific

Strength, fat loss, mobility, functional fitness, athletic conditioning, or training safely through a pregnancy and after it. Those need different plans, and your trainer writes for the one you actually want rather than a general template with your name on it.

03

Cautious after an injury

Something went wrong before and you have been careful ever since, which is reasonable. Your history shapes the program from the first session, and load goes on where your body can accept it rather than where a template says it should.

03What To Expect

What to expect training with us in Lake Forest.

Training here starts with a conversation, not a workout you have to survive to prove something. Here is the shape of it.

01

The consultation

Before anything gets written, you sit down with your trainer and go through your current fitness level, your goals, your daily habits around food and sleep, and your injury history and limitations. Nothing gets programmed until that is on paper, because the same exercise is right for one body and wrong for another.

02

The sessions

You train with your trainer watching the set while it happens, correcting the movement before it turns into a habit rather than after. Strength, conditioning and mobility each get their place in the week, and the difficulty moves when you do, not on a fixed calendar.

03

The adjustment

Every session is tracked. When a lift stalls or a goal stops moving, your trainer changes the variable causing it and explains the reasoning, so you learn how your own training works. That is the difference between having a program and collecting workouts.

Good to know

Wear training shoes and clothes you can lift and stretch in, and bring water. Come to the first appointment ready to talk before you train, because the consultation is part of it. Mention every old injury, surgery and current medication, including the ones you assume are irrelevant, since those details change what goes into the plan.

In Their Words
I've been doing personal training sessions with my personal trainer, and she's been excellent to work with. Getting back into better physical health has been great.
