Cold Laser Therapy in Lake Forest
One sore spot, one focused beam of light. Cold laser is the targeted, drug free option in our Lake Forest studio, held right over the tissue that is bothering you and worked into your therapy plan.

What is cold laser therapy?
Cold laser therapy, also called low level laser therapy, uses light rather than heat or medication to influence what cells are doing. A small handpiece is held against the skin over the tissue that hurts, and it delivers light energy into the tissue underneath. Inside those cells, the light is absorbed by the mitochondria, which respond by producing more ATP, the fuel a cell needs to repair itself. Around them, circulation increases and excess fluid moves out, which is what takes the swollen, congested feeling out of an area. Nerve endings in the region become less reactive, so the pain signal quiets down. The word cold is doing real work in the name. This is not a surgical laser. We use Theralase technology, which is cleared for this use and cool to the touch, so there is no burning, no cutting, and nothing to recover from afterward.
The thing worth understanding before you book is that cold laser is the targeted option. If you have one angry Achilles, one thumb joint, one patch of scar tissue that will not soften, this is the tool that goes exactly there and nowhere else. Our red light therapy is the same family of light but a completely different experience: a full body bed you lie inside while the whole surface of you gets covered at once. Cold laser is precise. Red light is broad. Neither one replaces the rest of your care. Both sit inside a physical therapy plan of care that a licensed physical therapist writes for you after an evaluation, alongside the hands-on treatment and the loading work that actually change how the tissue behaves.
Who it's for.
Cold laser suits people who can point at the problem. If you can put a finger on the spot, it is a candidate. If you want something for your whole body at once, the red light bed is the better fit.
A soft tissue injury that will not settle
A sprained ankle, a strained calf, an irritated bursa, a tendon that flares every time you go back to normal activity. Cold laser goes directly to that tissue while the rest of your plan works on why it keeps getting overloaded.
A stiff, aching joint you have learned to work around
The knee that complains on stairs, the shoulder you no longer reach overhead with. Light applied to the joint supports circulation and collagen in the surrounding tissue, which gives the mobility work a better starting point.
People healing after surgery or living with nerve pain
Swelling, a tender scar, or a nerve that has become oversensitive and now fires at things that should not hurt. Cold laser is gentle enough to use early, when almost nothing else is comfortable on the area yet.
What a cold laser session in Lake Forest looks like.
This is one of the calmest things we do. You stay dressed, you stay comfortable, and there is nothing to brace for. Here is the whole sequence.
We find the exact spot
Your therapist asks where it is worst today and then confirms it by hand, because the tender point and the point you would have guessed are not always the same. Precise placement is most of what makes a targeted treatment worth doing at all.
The probe goes on the skin
The handpiece rests against the area, either held still over one point or moved slowly across a larger region. There is nothing to feel. No heat, no buzzing, no sting. Most people are surprised that something happening at all feels like nothing.
Then we use the window
Laser is not the visit, it is the setup for the visit. With the area quieter, we move into the hands-on work, the mobility, and the strengthening that make the change last, and you leave with the piece of it you do at home.
The probe needs to touch skin, so wear something that lets you uncover the area easily. A shoulder is much simpler in a tank top than in a fitted sweater. Nothing gets applied to you, so there is no gel to wipe off and no reason to change clothes afterward, and you can go straight back to your day.
